Hypertensive Urgency

Medications for Hypertensive Urgency

About Hypertensive Urgency:

Hypertensive urgency is as soon as the blood pressure is high but there is hardly any or no signs and you will find no symptoms of acute damage to organs.

It differs from emergency which has high blood pressure but in addition includes symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, headache, changes in vision or neurologic deficits. These symptoms are typical indications of damage to the kidney, liver, heart, lungs or brain.

The level of blood pressure that`s thought of as somewhat high is even a diastolic blood pressure of more than 110 or a systolic blood pressure in excess of 180.

The objective of treatment in urgency is to reduce the blood pressure slowly over a few days to adjust medications, if required, to attain better long term blood pressure control.
